CAVEHILL FILM CLUB

Since being voted Cinemagic's Film Club of the Year, we have been very busy. We have rubbed shoulders with the elite of the movie world, Oscar winners a-plenty, and we've been invited to screenings of some great movies.
Here are a few of the events that we have attended over recent years:

The Coco Cola Cinemagic Awards in Belfast's City Hall... When we were awarded, Film Club of the Year.
An invitation from The First Minister to attend a gala at Stormont for Cinemagic.
Screening of 'The Muppets' Christmas Carol' at The Odeon.
Special Effects Workshop at The Crescent Arts Centre.
Screening of 'The Witches' at the QFT.
An audience with Lord Julian Fellowes at the Grand Opera House.
Screening of 'Monsters' University' in the Cinemobile at the Pumphouse, Queen's Island.
Movie making workshop with STEM NI.
And loads of after school screenings.

So many events...so much excitement...

Now with our new name... Into Film... We will get the chance to appear in a movie being made in Northern Ireland soon, with Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan... Watch this space for more information...

Yip, there's loads of reasons why we were voted Film Club of the Year, but mostly it's because WE LOVE FILMS!

Cavehill Primary School Film Club Awards 2013

The stars were definitely out this March, when Cavehill Film Club held its very own glittering awards ceremony. Members flocked up the red carpet to find a Schloer and cheese reception awaiting them before they had to face the paparazzi and reporters.

Film Club, although still in its infancy, has already brought fame and fortune to our school.  Megan Davison and Logan Simpson were interviewed on stage by Mark Mallet at The Cinemagic Film Awards last December, in Belfast's City Hall.  They met many famous people including the crazy Jedward!!!!

Nationally, we have had two members selected as Reviewers of the Week and their reviews on films watched, earned them prizes. Lee Russell and Alexandra Pina Samedo have had their work published on the Film Club website!!!!  As well as meeting weekly in school, we have gone out to view films and take part in film based workshops!!!! At the premier of Moon Man, in
the Odeon, Belfast, we were even able to interview one of the animators!!!! Cavehill's Film Club is one of the newest and biggest clubs in the country, with a thriving 60 members.  They have helped raise the profiles of movie-going during whole school events, such as Roald Dahl Day and our PTA's cinema night.

March's awards ceremony was hosted by the club's leader, Mrs Kerr, supported by Mrs Moffett and a wonderful team of staff volunteers.  Children took part in the nomination, presenting and recording processes and hope to edit their own documentary about our activities later in the year.  "Fun, awesome and amazing," is how Ally and Rhea described Film Club and special thanks are offered to Aine, who supports our club with merchandise and events.
